The Actuarial Science Specialist (Science Program) at the University of Toronto is an intensive undergraduate program designed to prepare students for professional work as actuaries and for broader roles in financial risk management. The curriculum covers mathematical, statistical, and financial principles used in insurance, pensions, and investments, and provides all required education for most Associate-level professional actuarial designations in Canada. The program is fully accredited by both the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) and the Society of Actuaries (SOA) as a Center of Actuarial Excellence (CAE). Students take courses across all key actuarial subfields, engage in case studies, projects, and a professional internship component, and have opportunities to perform research with guidance from faculty. Graduates are well-prepared to pursue the ACIA designation and work in insurance, pensions, consulting, government, and financial industries.
