The Master of Indigenous Education (MIEd) program at the University of Regina prepares graduates to become effective leaders and educators in Indigenous education. The program is offered in collaboration with the First Nations University of Canada and is designed for current teachers or those interested in Indigenous education, especially those working in band or urban schools with high Indigenous student populations. Students develop research skills, gain experience with Indigenous methodologies, and learn to integrate Indigenous knowledge into school curricula. Graduates become knowledgeable in Indigenization, decolonization, reconciliation, and are prepared for leadership roles in teaching, policy, language revitalization and community engagement. The program offers thesis, project, and course-based routes, with a flexible schedule and both on-campus and blended (hybrid/online) course delivery.
