The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Visual Arts at the Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance, University of Regina is a research-focused graduate program emphasizing studio art practice and its contextualization within contemporary art and critical discourse. The program features individual studio mentorship with faculty, weekly seminars on art theory and criticism, as well as development of individual research projects. It is intentionally kept small (maximum five students admitted annually) to ensure intensive faculty-student interaction. Collaborative support comes from faculty in Visual Arts, Interdisciplinary Studies, the Creative Technologies Program, First Nations University of Canada, and Luther College. The degree culminates in a solo graduate exhibition either at the Fifth Parallel Gallery or an approved alternative, a comprehensive support paper (25–50 pages), and an oral defense assessed by an external examiner and a faculty committee.
