The Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Languages at the University of Regina is offered by the Department of Indigenous Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics (in partnership with the First Nations University of Canada). The program aims to preserve and revitalize First Nations languages such as Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota, Dene, and Nakota. Students gain conversational fluency, learn about the structure and writing systems, study literature, oral traditions, principles of translation, and are introduced to linguistics. The program fosters pride in Indigenous heritage and builds skills for careers in language preservation, education, and related fields. It is suitable for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students, especially those interested in community involvement, linguistics, education, or cultural preservation.
