The Master of Architecture (MArch) program at the University of Waterloo is a professional, CACB-accredited, two-year degree that rigorously prepares students for entry into the architectural profession. Emphasizing architecture as both cultural act and practical discipline, the program encourages the development of critical thinking, debate, and research skills. Students engage in advanced design studios and pursue a self-directed research/design thesis under internationally recognized faculty. Opportunities include co-op, international research travel (including a term in the Rome studio), and participation in research labs addressing technology, sustainability, urbanism, fabrication, and more. The program is offered at the School of Architecture (Cambridge campus), Faculty of Engineering. Only applicants with a pre-professional Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS) from Waterloo or its equivalent are admitted directly; others may need to complete additional transitional coursework.
