The Master of Social Work (MSW) at Renison University College, University of Waterloo is a course-based, professional graduate program focused on advanced social work practice in healthcare, equity, social justice, leadership, and research. The MSW is delivered primarily online with two mandatory intensive Summer Institutes (one on-campus at the start and another online at the end). Students undertake six core courses (including two intensives), two online electives, a 462-hour supervised practicum, and a field integration seminar. The program does not offer a thesis/research option and is designed to meet the university's post-graduate degree standards. Graduates are equipped for advanced roles in health, research/scholarship, and professional leadership, including social work supervision. All field placements are completed in Canada, and international students must reside in Canada during their studies.
