The Master of Health Evaluation (MHE) program at the University of Waterloo's Faculty of Health (School of Public Health Sciences) is a professional graduate degree designed for evaluators and health professionals. It is Canada's first such program, delivered fully online for maximum flexibility. The curriculum is aligned with the Canadian Evaluation Society's standards, covering evaluative thinking, systems science, evaluation theory and methods, communication, and stakeholder engagement. Students complete ten graduate-level courses, including seven required subjects, two electives, and a 420-hour experiential practicum. The program prepares graduates to address complex health challenges and influence health-care decision-making at national and global levels. Applicants generally hold a four-year undergraduate degree in a health-related field with an overall average of at least 75%, relevant experience, a research methods course, and must meet rigorous English proficiency requirements (TOEFL 100 with writing/speaking 26, IELTS 7.5 with writing/speaking 7.0). Two references (with at least one academic if the last enrollment is within 5 years) and a statement of interest are required. Admission is competitive, and the application deadline is February 1 for Fall entry.
