The Bachelor of Public Health at the University of Waterloo's Faculty of Health (School of Public Health Sciences) prepares students to understand and address the many social, cultural, political, and geographical factors influencing health. The program takes a systems approach to disease prevention and treatment, offering over 40 health-related courses and accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. Students can specialize or focus in areas such as Addictions, Mental Health and Policy, Aging Studies, Gerontology, Health Informatics, and Health Research. The program emphasizes experiential learning through co-op placements, labs, and tutorials. In the final year, students complete a thesis, independent study, or community engagement placement. Graduates are equipped for impactful careers in healthcare, government, and social services, but the program is not accredited for Environmental Public Health Professional (EPHP) or Public Health Inspector careers.
