The Bachelor of Arts in Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) at Conrad Grebel University College, University of Waterloo, is Canada’s longest-standing interdisciplinary undergraduate program in this field. Students explore sources of conflict, violence, and injustice, alongside diverse theories and methods for building peace, justice, and social change. The curriculum integrates core areas such as conflict mediation, non-violent social change, gender and peacebuilding, religion and culture, environment, human rights and social justice, negotiation strategies, trauma and healing, and restorative justice. Through coursework taught by leading academics and practitioners, as well as experiential learning opportunities including co-op placements or internships, students gain both scholarly knowledge and practical skills. The program prepares graduates for careers in peacebuilding, mediation, community and international development, education, law, social services, and refugee support, among others.
