The Ethics of Artificial Intelligence concentration is a unique interdisciplinary stream within the one-year MA in Philosophy at the University of Guelph. It is designed to develop competencies across philosophy, data science, programming, and statistics, equipping graduates to address the complex ethical, social, political, and epistemological challenges posed by AI and data-driven technologies. Students engage in an 'ethics audit' project in close collaboration with computer science colleagues, build practical programming (R, Python) and statistics skills, and take graduate-level coursework inside and outside philosophy. The program prepares students for academic research or applied roles in industry where ethical evaluation of new technology is critical.
