The Bachelor of Arts in International Development Studies at the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences, University of Guelph, is one of Canada's pioneering interdisciplinary development programs. The curriculum combines academic foundations and practical experiences, addressing global issues such as poverty, conflict, inequality, sustainability, and climate change. Students choose one of five emphases (Agriculture and Food Security; Inequalities and Social Justice in the Canadian Context; Politics and Conflict in Development; Environment and Sustainable Development; Gender and Inclusive Development). Opportunities include hands-on learning, field schools, study abroad, internships, and a co-op stream with four work terms. Graduates are prepared for careers in government, non-profit, policy, law, international aid, and more, with supply of analytical and real-world skills needed to enact sustainable change.
